Dr. Guilherme Silva

Guilherme Silva, MD, earned his medical degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Upon completing his medical degree, he did 3 years of Cardiology training in Brazil. After coming to the United States, he completed 3 years of postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at The University of Texas-Houston. At the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, he completed a 3-year general Cardiology fellowship and 1 year of Interventional Cardiology training.

 

During his training at the Texas Heart Institute, Dr. Silva held the position of Chief Cardiology Fellow and Chief Interventional Cardiology Fellow and was chosen as the outstanding cardiology fellow of the 2007 graduating class. Dr Silva has been heavily involved in cardiovascular disease research and is one of the pioneers in the utilization of stem cells for treating heart attacks and heart failure. Currently, Dr. Silva holds the position of Assistant Medical Director of the Stem Cell Center at the Texas Heart Institute.

 

Dr. Silva has received training in general cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, and interventional cardiology techniques, including cardiac catheterization, percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), coronary stenting, peripheral vascular angioplasty and stenting, and rotational atherectomy.

 

He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology, and Echocardiography.
